Flag Promotion

Definition

Flag promotion moves a flagged item into the system’s working structures: onto a meeting agenda — core or other — so it gets real discussion time, or into a task when the discussion produces work. A promoted task lands on the Tasks board linked back to the flag, and the flag is marked resolved: the concern has become work with an owner.

A flag can also surface something bigger. What it raises may clarify into an uncertainty that takes the full journey — candidate control, testing, promotion to Current — and the candidate records the flag it came from, so the control’s ancestry stays traceable.

Two Promotions, One Idea

Jigsaw uses promotion in two places: a flag is promoted into an agenda or a task, and a candidate control is promoted into service as a current control. The word carries the same idea in both — something has earned a move into a more committed state, and the move is recorded.

Why This Matters

Promotion is how noticing becomes acting. Responsiveness measures the pace at which flags reach resolution; promotion is the mechanism that gets them there — and it is what makes flagging worth doing, because people keep raising concerns in systems where concerns visibly move.
